This rifle was made in 1982 and is in Fine condition with some scratching on the forend, barrel and magazine tube, but otherwise appearing to have seen little use. Our Assessment: The Browning BAR 22 rifle was produced starting in 1977 and was discontinued in 1985. The box has scattered light wear and some surface loss from tape, in about Very Good condition. Mechanics: The action functions correctly. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine condition. There is is some scratching on the right of the barrel and magazine tube just forward of the forend, otherwise there are only light handling marks. Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. Type of Finish: Blue Barrel & Magazine Tube, Black Alloy Receiver & Trigger Guardīore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. The stocks are in about Fine overall condition. The LOP measures 13 ¾” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate, which shows little wear, in about Fine-plus condition. The buttstock has a few light marks along the toe-line, another at the heel and light handling marks. The forend has a few scratches at the front and light handling marks. Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered walnut with straight grip, straight comb and black plastic buttplate. The top of the receiver is grooved for a scope mount (none included). The rear sight is a folding “U”-notch adjustable for elevation and drift-adjustable for windage in its dovetail at the rear of the barrel. Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed to the front of the barrel. The bottom of the trigger guard is marked with a gold-filled Buck Mark logo. The right side of the bolt has a proof mark and the right of the receiver is marked with the serial number. The right side of the barrel is marked “BAR-22 CALIBER 22 LONG RIFLE ONLY”.
